What is the best way to save old VHS tapes to WMA, MPEG, Etc???

Also, what about converting from a digital video camera to save on the
computer as well?

We have a lot of old VHS tapes, and want to burn them to DVD/CD so they last
longer.

Any suggestions appreciated.

You need an analog video capture card.

Try the rec.video.desktop newsgroup for more help. For this subject matter,
you'll find more expertise there.

first of all, you need a t.v tuner card, install this and
connect to a video recorder, put your video in and press
play, on your computer (i have power vcr 2) press record.
it does it all automatically, and splits it into however
many discs it takes. >
