contacts card view card heading (gray area)

Ray

My configuration is outlook 2002, using XP operating
system.

My contacts have an empty card heading area. Normally
the file as field shows up in 8 point tahoma bold in that
gray area. I can enlarge the card heading by changing
font size, but can't get the file as to display there.

Contact folders in outlook data files work fine. If I
move one of those contacts from an outloook data file to
the contacts folder, the card heading disapears. This
leaves me with no name, and just phone numbers and empty
gray bars.

thanks,
Ray

Lost me completely.
How in the world can you move a contact from the "outlook data file" to the
"contacts folder?"
A Contacts Folder cannot exist outside an Outlook Data File.

I regularly export my outlook folders ie inbox, deleted,
contacts to a outlook data file. if you open one of
those outlook data files you have a contact folder in an
outlook data file.

How about if I get back to the basic question, without
all of the confusing background.

In my new machine, I have xp outlook 2002. In the
contacts folder the card headings (gray area) do not
display text. The normal text displayed there is from
the "File as" field. How do I fix that? I believe it is
view related.

Try starting Outlook once with the /cleanviews command line switch. This
switch (and a few other really helpful ones) are discussed here:
