Connect to server problem (urgent!!! :op)

Hello there ) Wondering if anyone could help me please.

Just got wireless broadband the other today, and a couple of hours or so
after being on Messenger, it seems to bring up (ever time I open Messenger
from systray, or any other website) this stupid 'connect to' box. theres
another one that comes up, one from 'adfarm' something. they all appear to
be servers to an advertisement company of some sort, some gatorsoft, some
adfarm, also doubleclick.net.

any ideas how i can get rid of the bloody thing?

Not sure why this would be coming up per se. I think the easiest thing you could do is open
up the Hosts file, add "ad.uk.doubleclick.net" as a 127.0.0.1 so that it can't connect to it
(and the added benefit of not seeing some ads).

To do so this, click Start, then Run, type:
notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
and click OK.

Start a new line and put
127.0.0.1[tab]ad.uk.doubleclick.net

and that didn't bloody work!!

i am sure it is a spyware problem, yet i have microsoft antispyware
installed (all updated), i also have spybot search and destroy (all
updated), i have kaspersky antivirus professional (all updated) and i even
have a custom written government firewall inbuilt onto it as well (i work
for GCHQ). NONE of those have picked up anything!!

hope ur all well,

Sir Zack

Sounds like you need a good firewall to block adware & Spyware.. Try "Spybot
search & destroy". It works fairly well to eliminate. Also get a vervion of
'Hijack this'
from Soeperman Enterprises, LTD. It will help identify and eliminate these
deposited files.
