Computer runs SLOWWWWWWWWWW

My computer with XP home suddenly is running very slow. Internet is
all most useless. Takes forever to load but other computers on home
network with same connection run fine. The hard drive starts running
faster and faster until it is almost screaming.

Virus scan (Norton) finds nothing

Computer runs fine when I boot with widows 2000.

Anyone else have this problem?

well I also have the same problem I was told that you can disable items in
Msconfig but there is services that also start up with your computer which
could cause it to slow down For streamlining your services go to
http://snakefoot.fateback.com/tweak/winnt/services.html
and I have also tried disabling some graphical features if you right click
my computer go to properties go to advanced and the performance there you
can disable useless eyecandy. and then there the basic stuff....Defragging
Antivirus Spywere removal...elt

Good Luck!

get yourself an adware program such as SpybotSD. Run it
and you will be shocked as to how many adware is on your
disk. uncheck MicroSoft and delete the rest. Then check
option to 'exclude manufacturer' MicroSoft so it will hide
it on future examinations. My son had 100's of them. run
SpyboSD and much better now. good luck.
