Hello and thanks in advance for your help

I cannot start either of the above services. When I try to initiate them
the HD sounds like it is seeking and then I get the following error messages.
Computer Browser: "Error 1068 The depency service or group failed to start"
Server: "Error 2001 The specified driver is invalid" I need both of these
to set up a home office network. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are all dependent services running? Look on the Dependencies tab. Make sure
that the Server and Workstation services are both running.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. No dependences are listed for "Server" and "Server"
and workstation" are listed as dependencies for "Computer Browser:"
"Workstation" is started. It seems as if "Server is not present on the
system or corrupted. In the Event Log their is a Warning under "Type" The
event description is "the server service unable to load the service driver" I
think if I could get the service server running the computer browser service
would be fine.

Perhaps there's the problem. The Server service, which requires the File and
Printer Sharing network component, is part of the Browser.

Check the Network Components.

If yuu're missing components, rerun the Network Setup Wizard.

Running ICW made no difference. Computer Browser and Server services will
still not start. I believe there is a corrupt file somewhere creating this
problem. Do you know the names of the files associated with these
operations? As I have another machine with the same version of Windows XP I
should be able to take those file from one machine and install them in
another. Thanks!

OK, if you suspect corrupt files, run "sfc / scannow". Have the install CD, or
know where I386 is. Copying replacement files to floppy isn't a lot of fun, if
you have to do more than one. Be prepared.

If no improvement from "sfc /scannow", do a Repair Install. Read and heed all
notes and warnings.

Backup any important data, that's on the same partition as the system, first.
Be prepared.

Hello Chuck!

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I ran sfc / scannow and all services came
back. File and print sharing are working like a charm and the drive has
stopped making to seeking noises! Very much appreciated!
