Hi,
on my Compaq Presario 2104EA (a notebook)

THE FOLLOWING:
ATI U1/RS200 AGP Bus Driver for Windows XP (SP23138.exe)
Release Date: 2003-04-28 Version: 1.00 B
DOESN'T INSTALL (DOESN'T EVEN START THE SETUP - double click on
C:\swsetup\SP23138\SETUP.EXE and ... nothing)

MY configuration:
- Windows XP SP2
- Successfully installed : ATI Video Driver and Control Panel
(SP23138.exe) Version: 1.00 B

Any hint?

(Needless to say that at compaq/HP have no clue whatsoever)

Hint 1 - It is the Installshield front-end that is failing.
Closing down any running apps, including those in the background,
antivirus scanners, mouse drivers, etc, etc, might help.

Hint 2 - If you still can't get it to work, the following link
is the same driver version AFTER the installshield front-end has
dumped the files into a folder C:\swsetup (but you can put the
folder anywhere you want it) and then install it.

thanks for your reply

unfortunately the installshield works file and extracts the archive
with no problems - problem is that launching setup.exe from C:\swsetup
nothing happens ...

Opps, sorry, you plainly stated that but i was preoccupied with
something else.

The driver appears to need admin rights to install, are you
logged in as administrator?

It also appears to be a US-only version, if you are installing on
non-US system you might need to edit the SP23138.cva file,
manually adding entries for IT similar to those for US or just
replace "US" with "IT" everywhere you see it. I"m not certain
that will, could work but is worth a try.
