Comment balloons vs. rollovers

I don't like the 'comment balloons' in the current version of Word as much as
I liked the 'rollover' style comments in earlier versions. Is there no way
to set the comments to rollover in-text pop-ups like they used to be?

I teach a high school class where all assignments are due to me by email or
floppy, and I type my comments/responses to my students using this feature.
Works great-
they can read what I have to say, I can read what they have to say, but I
find myself missing the rollover comments more than I thought I would.

From the Tools menu, select Options and then go to the Track Changes tab and
set the display of Balloons to Never.
