Cleanup HOTFIX's ? install SP4 and rollup ?

I am trying to cleanup the installs and registry etc on W2k-Pro

I was going through "Add/Remove Prog" and i see 30-40 Hotfix KB######
un-installs plus service packs and i was wondering how can i (if possible?)
**SAFELY** remove all the hotfixes and just install SP4 and the current
ROLLUP which should have all of those fixes and patches etc

Is it possible ? (not) recommended ? how to do safely ?

will this work ?
The idea being, i do not actually remove anything
but the references and the SP4 re-install
will make the system current ?

1. remove all un-install subfolders %systemdir%/$NYuninstall........$
2. remove un-install listing from registry HKEY...../.....uninstall Key
3. Install SP4 ?
4. Install Rollup ?

My advice is don't do it. The more things you tinker with, the greater
probability that you'll shoot yourself in the foot. When you install SP4,
it will remove any uninstall entries from Add/Remove that are no longer
relevant. As I recall, it doesn't remove the uninstall folders, but you
can safely do that at any time -- so long as you're sure you'll never want
to retrieve any of those old modules. I always make a copy on CD before
deleting any of the uninstall folders.

in this i will suggest to run the latest update roll up pack, instead going
round the way. may i know the reason for adopting such path, that will help
a lot in directing you to some good resource.
