Aloha, i donwloaded the beta2 and burned it to a dvd.
Sofar all ok, but when i boot from the dvd and press the install now button
it asks me for a driverdisk for my cd dvd player ?????
Anybody any suggestions ?
What driver disk do they mean.
My mainboard has a sis 5513 ide udma controller.
I tried the drivers for this controller but no luck with that.
I managed to install vista through windows xp.
But when finished installing vista vista still dont see any dvd cd players
on the secondair ide port
The sis ide tool reports dvd cd players but the device manager is not
showing anything, not even devices with yellow remarks on it.

Thats a bit unusual, sounds like a hardware not a software problem bus
as your DVD is presumably working fine on XP its more likely to be a
drivers / support issue.

Try this it might fix it.

Using XP go here http://www.driver-soft.com/ download and install the
trial version. Run Driver Genius Pro and backup all your drivers to a
temp folder, it will extract and copy every driver it finds on your PC
for all hardware. Burn the resulting folders to a CDR then install
Vista. When it asks for Drivers put the CDR in and it should find the
drivers it wants.

I am assuming you can read a DVD up to it asking for drivers?
otherwise find the CD drivers in the backup an put them on a floppy.

May not work but worth a try and you will have a backup of all XP
drivers on a CD if nothing else.

Thanks for the tip about this backup.
I have been searching for a while and discovered the problem is the second
ide channel.
Devices connected to the primair ide port work fine in vista.
Devices connected to the secundair ide simply wont show up in the device
manager from vista. The controller on my board is a sis 5513 ide udma
controller.
