Changing path to My Documents folder

I am running out of space on my C: drive due to every program wanting to
install something on it even when I direct most of these stuff to other
drives. I have gone to the allowing partition size for this drive.

My next thought would be to move all of the folders under Documents and
Setting\myname\etc to some other drive. This set of folders is now 843 MB.
The My Documents folder is by far the largest one.

Right click the my documents folder>properties>move and type the new location on
you other drive for the documents to be located. You'll have freed up ~850MB
after a logoff/logon.

Open Windows Explorer, and expand + My Computer so you can see your drives.
In the left pane select the drive that you want to relocate your My
Documents folder to. Click the File menu, click New/Folder, a New Folder
will appear in the right pane. Right click that folder and left click
Rename, type: My Documents. Close Windows Explorer. On your Windows
Desktop, right click the My Documents icon, left click Properties. When the
My Documents Properties dialog box opens click the Move button, expand the
My Computer listing so it shows the drives, select and expand the drive
where you created the new My Documents folder, select that folder, and click
the OK button. A dialog box will open asking if you want to move all the
existing My Documents files and folders, say yes. Thereafter any files you
save to My Documents will be saved to the My Documents folder on the other
drive. As for making more room on your old drive, you can start by deleting
any media files (which are usually large) like .avi, mpg, wav, wma, bmp etc.
that you don't use. Some programs install videos about how to use certain
features of the software. If you already know how to use the program delete
those video files. Delete the Windows Tour files. Uninstall programs that
you don't use. If you're using MS Office, run the setup and remove
components that you don't use. Then defragment the drive....

Thanks for your suggestion. It works well. Actually you did not need to be
quite so detailed since I know how to create files, etc. It was the "Move"
option that I was not aware of.
