change software deployment source for assigned software

We are decomissioning the server that we used to store all the applications
we use for software deployment via group policy. Is there a way we can
update the group policy objects so they look at the new server where the
files are stored?

Hi EdA

Did you manage to get around this then? We are having the same issue here.
When we change the source path, it reinstalls the application on the
desktops again!!
Is there any way to do this without reinstalling?

We were unable to find a way to do this easily. I did read on suggestion
that said to create setup the new application store and then create a new
software install package that upgrades the old one. We haven't tried that
yet.

Also, I read that the best way to set these up (and avoid this problem in
the future) is to setup a DFS share and use that for storing the
applications. DFS shares are server (name) independent.

Hope that helps.
