Challange anybody to figure out this problem out (yes, another AOL problem, that

About 4 month's ago, my computer (HomeXP, AOL Broadband
cable, 512 mb RAM, 2 Ghz. process.) started kicking me
offline. I have AOL 9.0 and when I log on, it says goodbye
immediately and kicks me offline. I log on again and
usually I can stay on for anywhere from 15 min.to an hour
and then "BAM" the computer screen freezes up (if I am
play'n music, it will stop and just buzz)for about 20
seconds and then un-freezes. But, after that, everything
is dogged down. I can't even close a open window, progress
meters barely move and within a minute, I will be booted
offline. This will happen all day long.Time Warner says
everything is good on their end, AOL doesn't have an idea
it seems, but the last lady I talked with said it could be
my NortonSyst.Works and something about the Liveupdate.
She also said it could be my system resources. I'm lost.
Somebody help before all my hair is gone??

Have you checked for computer viruses?

A lot of these posts have to do with people in a hyper
state on viruses. Blame it all on viruses. You have a
large system. If I were you, I'd get rid of all forms of
security including any user logons with passwords, and
especially Norton. See if it runs better. If not you can
put all your security back, right?

Of course he hasn't checked for a Virus. He has AOL ( Biggest Virus in
the world) :)

I used to have that problem with a dial-up connection to AOL a couple of
years ago. Days of ringing in 30-odd times were not uncommon. In my case
it was fixed by severely reducing the number of startup programs.
