Can't view HTML mail after installing Avast

Hi All

I have just completed a clean install of Windows XP SP2 (with all updates).

The final step has been installing Avast antivirus (I thought I would
try it after using AVG for a few years).

After installing Avast I cannot view HTML mail in Thunderbird.
Everything seems to be converted into plain text.

Is Avast causing this problem with HTML mail?
I tried turning off Avast 'on-access protection' but I still can't see HTML.

Is there a setting in Thunderbird that I have missed?
I have tried setting Thunderbird to view remote images and javascript
with no luck.

Any other suggestions?

TIA

Avast makes no difference for me.

But why would you want your email program to execute JavaScript? The
only script I have ever seen in an email was bad stuff.

Cheers - that fixed it.

I don't - i was just trying different settings. I have now blocked
remote images and javascript.
