can't send email - connection to server failed

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'test'
Server: 'smtp.shentel.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10061

Having problems with this in Vista Mail, Outlook 2003 and now Window Live.
ISP is same as my email account. I have contacted them and they cannot
figure what is going on. Have tried disabling all my firewalls/security
software and makes no change. Any ideas? Been going on since last 7/23.

Sorry, but I don't see my thread. Thought it was gone somehow because when I
clicked on link in my notification email, I just got a blank screen....Is
that normal?

Yes that web news method of posting is almost always broken.

Why not use your WLM newsreader

To access this newsgroup.

Also this error message is now from the Windows Live Mail program, (this
newsgroup is for the support of Windows Mail in Vista).

I see that you are using both programs, and getting the same error.

FYI:
Any future questions regarding Windows Live Mail are best asked in the
following newsgroup:

Thanks. I will try that. You know, I still can't find my thread from
yesterday. What am I doing wrong? I did post it in Windows Vista/Windows
Mail, right? Do you still see it? (since I'm new to this maybe I should
have gone thru the getting started guide)

i am still not able to semd emails said server is not found, we used
charter.net and am really getting upset with this windows vista, had windows
xp and had no problems at cant seem to get it fixed.

Mary, do you get an error message when you try to send? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

In the future, please start a new thread for a new issue. If we have
multiple problem reports all mixed together, things get messy and confusing.
