hello all,

I am new to recording cd's this week.

Can someone tell me why I cannot play my cd that has
mp3's that I recorded using windows mediaplayer on a
normal cassette/cd player? It plays fine on the computer
but not on my portable radio.

thanks for your time,

jamie

Some cd players simply will not play music cd's made with
a computer (cdr's), especially if its an older model.

Ron may be right- some CD players, usually units more than a few years old,
just don't handle burned discs very well. Try your CD on a different player
to see if it works there. If it doesn't, you may have made a slight mistake
in the way you burned it.

Home audio CD players, unless they have a built-in mp3 decoder like some
newer DVD players do, can only play audio discs. When you burn a CD you
must be sure to create an AUDIO disc, not a DATA disc. The audio disc must
also be finalized so that no further tracks can be written to it. How many
tracks did you fit onto that CD? If it was much more than, say, twenty or
so, you probably created a data disc of mp3 files instead of an audio CD.

If your CD burner came with some burning software like Nero or EasyCD
Creator, I'd recommend trying that to make your next CD. Those programs
make all your options much more clear.

Regards,
Ian.
