Can't ping myself but can ping any others

Paul

I have been having a problem networking my pcs in my
office. All can see each other except for one pc. I have
reinstalled XP and replaced the nic several times and even
tried a USB nic. This pc can ping others but can't ping
it's own ip address of the card installed in it. As a
result I can't get to this pc from the other PCs on the
network or share the printer on this pc. I have been at
this for days and am getting nowhere. I am not a new
computer user. I have been in the business for over 19
years and have my own business. I just have no clue what
is causing this problem. Please help if you have a very in-
depth knowledge of XP. Thanks for the help, Paul

Hi there

First of all, is there a firewall installed on this PC at all? If so, see
if this is interfering.

Next, try comparing the results of "ipconfig /all" at each PC and see if the
bad PC looks any different.

Lastly, try a "route print" on each PC and compare.

Post the results up to the forum if you need help interpreting what's going
on.

Regards

Oli
