Can't move non-system files in Win Explorer

I am not trying to move system files or folders. I am trying to move
folders/files I created and copied over from my XP machine. When I check the
properties they are read only. So I unswitch them get warned and as soon as I
look at them again they are back to read-only. I have admin permissions so
not sure what the problem is. I can delete the folders/files but I want to
reorganize them.

Is there a "Not a Newbie" version of Vista or maybe a tweak?

The "read-only" attribute is not applicable to file folders (directories) in
Vista, just as it wasn't applicable in XP.

Take ownership of your files and that should solve your issue.

A. Check the permissions of the file or folder the file is saved in and take
ownership:

1. Right-click the file or folder, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. Under Group or user names, click your name to see the permissions you
have.

To open a file, you need to have read permission. For more information on
permissions, see What are permissions?

To take ownership of a folder:

1. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click
Properties.
2. Click the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
3. Click Edit. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an
administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide
confirmation.
4. Click the name of the person you want to give ownership to.
5. If you want that person to be the owner of files and subfolders in this
folder, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
6. Click OK

Folders are not 'read only'. Note that the box is filled in, not checked.
Also note the comment next to the box, 'Only applies to files in folder'.

It is unlikely that your problem in moving folders/files is due to 'Read
only' status, a 'read only' file can be moved as easily as one that is not
read only.

The locations you are trying to move from and to, along with the error
message you are receiving may provide additional information needed for
someone to help you out.

First off thanks for you help.
These are folders and files I CREATED SO HTF am I not the freakin owner?
GOD VISTA SUCKS TO MAKE ME GO THROUGH ALL THESE STEPS!

Is there as version of Vista that is not for newbies? Is there a setting to
get me out of this user mode like super admin or something? A hack or tweak?
I go back to the DOS days and know what I am doing. I don't need this extra
'help'.

I worked at M$ and the only thing I miss is inside knowledge about overrides
like what you knew, in other words, avoid the great ideas out of marketing.
And like you. I've been doing this for 20 years and don't need hand holding
