i was running an XP SP1 b4 it got all messed up with viruses and stuff.
so i decided format and reinstall windows. a clean install.

but when i booted with the cd and tried to format my hard drive.
it says i can't format drive C:\. it says that the disk is not there.
but i can format drive D:\ however. and before u say my hard drive's busted.
both of them are partitions on the same drive.

any one can help me out??

Does it give any reason for not being able to format? You might have to remove the partition and create it again to get it to work (use FDISK in dos).

here's the thing. after i've fomatted the D partition bcoz it won't allow me to format C the C partition just disappeared.
the error stated before the C partition disappeared was that i didn't connect my hard drive. or my hard drive is damaged. is it true?
and since i'm running xp on NTFS i can't format with fdisk in DOS.
i'm still learning here. i don't know much. thanks for helping. :)
