Can't find backup wizard on Window XP home

Guest

I'm trying to back up data before sending my computer to be repaired. I
searched this forum and found an article on backing up. It stated
To start the Backup Utility in Windows XP Professional:

1.
Open Backup. (Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories,
point to System Tools, and then click Backup.)

When I went to "Accessories" and then to "Systems tools" there was no
Backup program. I searched the computer for "backup wizard" without success.
Help!

Backups have many different interpretations. NTBackup functions
in the category of Imaging. By this, it takes the content and places
it within a composite module (.Bck). To retrieve the data requires
use of the original program to recover/restore the data. For your
most important data it's my opinion you should burn that data in it's
original form to CD/DVD-R disks. (My Docs, Pictures, Email).
This way you can immediately access and test the backup copy. To
protect your system - use an Imaging program like Ghost, True
Image and the like. For systems I configure, I actually create/use
a separate partition/volume for personal data. This way the image
(XP) can be recovered without any loss of personal data. Always
try to keep the last 2 versions of any backups and resist the urge to
throw out older copies. You can never have too many backups.

Do a full system search for NTBackup.Exe - once located Right
Click, Send To, Desktop.

Hi Jeff,
You'll find Backup on the XP cd in the folder \VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP.
easier to use the Advanced Mode

You couldn't find it on your Home Edition Install media for a simple
reason: It doesn't exist on the Home Edition media. Only on the Pro
media.

No, this isn't correct. Backup is installed automatically on XP
Professional, but not on XP Home, however it is on the installation CD for
both. You can find backup on the CD, in \ValueAdd\MSFT\NTBACKUP and install
it yourself by doubleclicking the file ntbackup.msi.
