Can't Embed pictures in Access XP

I'm trying to follow instructions as outlined in the help file to insert pictures (at this point I don't really care if the images are linked or embedded to be honest -- I just want them to display!) in a form. I want a different picture for each record, & currently those pictures are in jpg format. What is displaying however is a file name of picture & not the picture itself. Somebody PLEASE help! Some step by step instructions on how to accomplish this that aren't a mash of gobbledegook would be very much appreciated!
