Cannot type text in text boxes

Hello,
Odd problem with IE6 on a Win98 machine. I can type in the address bar
fine, but if I go to a web page that requires a sign in, I cannot type in the
fields for the username or password, or any field on the web page for that
matter. Tried to reset the defaults for the browser, cleaned cookies and
cache, ran spyware programs and fixed problems, but still doesn't work. BTW
I'm using a different pc now (obviously). Not sure what else to try any help
would be great. Thanks!
