cannot open powerpoint directly!!!

i just found out this problem today trying to open up powerpoint slides from
my professor. when i click on the powerpoint link to the first powerpoint, i
have the option of open, save, or cancel, but when i click on any other
powerpoint link, it says "Do you want to save this file, or find a program
online to open it?" with the options of find, save, or cancel. if i save the
ppt, i can open it, but i can no longer directly open (instead open is
replaced by find). i could open it yesterday and every time b4 and i could
have opened it with microsoft office powerpoint viewer 2007 a few hours ago,
but now i can't directly open it even though i wish to. powerpoint 2007 and
powerpoint viewer 2007 are both installed too. very weird! thanks to everyone
who can help!

Let's work from simple solutions to the more complex.

Have you rebooted your computer since this behavior started? If not,, it is
a good first step.

If that doesn't fix you problem, it may be that the file associations got
hosed. This is what tells windows which program to open the various file
types in and how to treat them when they are opened.
Have a gander at this page from the faq, it will explain how re-associate
your files with PowerPoint.
