Cannot Open New Application Due to Process Performance Counter Dis

I have XP home and installed a cd/dvd burning program called Nitro Burn & Go
CD/DVD. When I click on the desktop icon I get the following message:
"process performance counter is disabled, so the requested operation cannot
be performed".

Any help would be appreciated.

Jeffy,

You can enable the disabled counters. Using Registry Editor, change the
value under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Service_name\Performance\Disable
Performance Counters from 1 for disable to 0 for enable. Note that counters
that have been disabled after initial testing are likely to contain errors
and may cause system problems.

Thanks. I already tried that step but couldn't find which "service name"
applied to Nitro. Do you know how to figure that out, if it's not obvious?

Jeffy,

I wouldn't know which counter you have is disabled and which affects Nitro.
I would suggest that in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ , you expand all
"folders" and look for the Performance "folder". If you see it, enter that
Performance folder and look for Disable. If you see any Disable key, please
double click on it and put in 0

If all fails, let me now. :)
