Cannot install XP

For some reason I cannot boot my XP install cd. So I booted with a Win98
Boot floppy and tried to run "winnt" from the i386 dir. on the XP CD but
when I do I get this error message: "An internal Setup error has occurred.
Could not find a place for a swap file. Setup cannot continue. Press ENTER to
exit." Is this because the hard drive is formated in NTFS and Win98 cannot
read it? I am not sure how else to install?!? any help would be great!

Thank you!

Carey, Thank you! I ran smartdrv, but still get same error. Any other
suggestions? This is a new drive I just bought so it is a clean install!
Thank you!

Did you try formatting the drive FAT32 with your Win98 boot
floppy and starting the installation again? You can convert the
drive to NTFS during the text portion of the XP installation.

Also, make sure you have smartdrv started or it will take hours
to copy the files from the CD onto the hard drive. I've had to
enter the smartdrv.exe command twice before it actually was
running. You want to see some output on the screen to verify
that smartdrv is running. If you're simply taken back to the
command prompt then you need to enter the command again.

Good luck

Forgot to include that you'll need to delete the Non-Dos
partition on your hard drive and create a new one that you can
format FAT32. FDISK should work to get rid of the old partition
or you can use delpart.exe which can be downloaded from this
web site.

Sorry for the confusion.
