Cannot change anymore resolution in normal mode

Fr some reason my screen resolution changed to 800x600x16 (only 4 bit!) and
I find no way to improve it. If I go to safe mode, I can see up to
1280x1024x65400 or 1024x768x16M, so my hardware is OG. I have a LG L1910P
LCD monitor on an NVidia GeForce4 MX440. Removing and reinstalling drivers
was of no help. Yesterday I had a beautyful 1280x1024x16M...

I also noticed that in the advanced screen properties, Monito panel, the
only available frequency is...
"Use default hardware settings"

Yesterday I could see 60Hz, 70Hz, 72Hz and 75Hz.

Please, help.
