Can see shares, but cannot access shares and cannot ping??

I finally had my shares working between my laptop(XP-HomeSP2 w/simple file
sharing) & desktop (XP-PROSP2, w/general file sharing) after the
IRPStackSize issues were resolved that solved all my networking/share
problems.

Now my shares aren't accessible anymore for some reason. Can see em, but
not accessible. (I must have changed something subtle)

I have the shares security/permission turned for about ANY user (guest,
guests, admin, anybody, me, .......). I have the SAME ID/pswd on both
machines.

While trying to find the problem.....

I can see shares both ways, but my desktop now can't ping my laptop (and
visa versa)???

How does this work..... see shares but not be able to ping??

Each can ping themselves, the router & internet sites. The shared internet
connection via the wireless router works fine as before.

The most likely cause is firewall or third party security software.

Also, use regedit and check: HLKM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
The value for RestrictAnonymous should be set to 0.
