Can not save ppt as pps - opens as ppt always

I am using Power Point 2003. I have a small file (ppt) that I want to
open as a pps when double clicked. Even though I save it as a pps, it
continues to open in the ppt format. I have tried several times to
save it as pps to no avail. I'm sure it was made in an earlier version
of power point ut should that matter when I save it again in 2003?

Other ppt files and pps files work just fine on this machine so I
don't think it is in the registry or file associations. I just don't
know why it refuses to cooperate. Any help will be appreciated.
I can forward the 19 kb file if interested. It is nothing proprietary

Talon,

Rename the file using windows explorer (my computer)

e.g.
currentname.ppt

to
newname.pps

Does that work?

Do you have my computer set to show the 3 letter extension?

If your computer is not set to show the 3 letter extension...the file maybe really called

currentname.pps.ppt

Which would probably get treated like a normal .ppt file

TAJ,
Thanks for the help. I changed the name in explorer and it worked. I
always have the extensions showing. Can't stand it the other way.

I guess it just wasn't taking the save correctly. I deleted the file
and resaved again and it is working.

You guys are great. Thanks for the unselfish help all of you provide
on this program. A lot of us would be looking for the noose by now if
you weren't here.

Thanks again,

Talon
