Can I increase a FAT 32 partition size

P

Phil

Hi there,

I am re-installing my original windows 2000 software onto
a new 20GB hard drive. Once installed the C drive is only
2GB in size and I can find no way to aletr it. Is this
possible. It is a FAT32 type. I have also been advised to
change this FAT 32 partition to an NTFS but am not sure
how to do this or if it is possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Changing the format of the drive would not allow you to access the other
16GB's of the drive (20GB formatted is about 18.6GB's - then take 2GB's away
leaves about 16GB free)

There are two ways of resizing. A) re-run the 2K setup and delete the
partitions on the drive, then create one partition that fills the whole of
the drive. This deletes all of your data and applciations.

-or-

B) Purchase something like Partition Magic 8 that allows you to resize the
partition without deleting all of the data on the drive.

and to answer the conversion question:

open a dosbox

convert c: /fs:ntfs

this converts the C: drive to NTFS

cheers
