Can I change the number of a slide from Slide #5 to Slide #5A?

I am working for a instructed that numbered the different slides he has on
his lecture. He has each lecture in a binder that he takes down to class and
uses as a map to guide him in class. He also prepares from this lecture,
which tells him when he is supposed to be using Power Point and what slide he
needs to be on. This lecture as 45 power point slides and we want to add 5.

We didn't want to have to go back and change all the numbers and the lecture
pages, but just insert a slide that would be number slide 5A, which would
fall inbetween slide 5 and slide 6.

Thank you for your help. If there is any way we can do this it would save A
LOT of time.

Does your instructor use mouse clicks or keyboard commands to advance slides
during a presentation? There are a couple of work-arounds that can be used
to fake a chapter style slide numbering. Unfortunately, the instructor has
to be somewhat aware in that the navigation can be confusing.

Option 1 -- Insert a link on slide 5 to the 'next slide' (5A, which is
really a non-advancing & hidden slide at the end of the presentation) and a
hyperlink back to slide 6

Option 2 -- Insert a link to your single slide presentation (slide 5A) on
slide 5. This will open a new presentation of slide 5A over your main
presentation. When this presentation/slide is closed, however, you will
return to slide 5, not slide 6.

Option 3 -- Insert the additional slide (5A, saved as a single slide
presentation) as an object on the original slide 5.

None of these options allows for direct navigation to slide 5a, but each
maintains the current slide numbering.
