OK, now I understand what you meant by "patch" - you lifted it from Vista
and transferred it to Win7. I thought you meant that you had made a simple
change in Win7 to enable WinMail code that was already sitting there in
Win7.

Altho' a little more than 'simple', that is basically what is going on
in the techspot HowTo.

Drifting aside:

It is interesting how 'we' (tinw) live in two different worlds, where
'we' in this context is 'newsers' like me who like usenet newsgroups for
information exchange and 'they' is/are forumites who actively
participate in webforums but not usenet (any more).

In all of that techspot discussion about WinMail and Windows Live Mail
both in the discussion preceding the HowTo and in all of the discussion
and comments which followed which included breaking the WinMail because
of a Win7 patch which broke a .dll which had to be obtained from an
updated Vista, there was never one peep about what I as a newser find to
be the most objectionable 'feature' of Win LiveMail, namely its
inability to quote except in the older 2009 version.

The article and the comments including responses by the original author
took place over the time period from 2009 Nov to 2012 Jul during which
time usenet groups have been 'alive' with beefs and unhappiness about
what is wrong with WLM, but the forumites at the techspot article and
comments seemed to be completely oblivious to that fact.

Well, I found it simple and obvious.
The old saw: "Intuitively Obvious to the Casual Observer"

Yes, WLM is a mess. Never considered it.
