Can a Novell and Win 2k DNS be the same

On our internal Network we currently have a Novell NDS, we are moving to a Window 2k or 2k3 DNS, our DNS is for example ourdomain.com for Novell, can I name the Windows one the same, they will co-exist for approx 1 year, or do I need to use something different, if so could I just use .co.uk?

Keep in mind you'll want all machines in your org to use the same DNS
server(s). If you name them the same, you may come across conflicting
entries. Keep in mind that AD requires updates into DNS. If you are using
NDS's DNS, this does not support that feature. It maybe better to migrate
everyone from Novell's DNS to MS DNS as soon as possible for starters. Then
you need to ask yourself will there be any conflicting entries. If not, then
go ahead. If so, use a different name. If the ourdomain.com is your external
domain name, then I would NOT use the same name. It;'s highly recommended to
use some other name, otherwise you'll have addition administrative overhead
to get some features to work properly.
