Scary. A file de-fragger named "buzzsaw". Icons are a buzz saw and a fish
hook. I'm trying it. I hope it's not as scary as it sounds.

Name may sound scary, but the proggies are quite good. I've been
running dirms and buzzsaw for about a month with no problems.

I have noticed that after running dirms to defrag and "optimize" file
locations that System Saftey Monitor would tell me that it had found a
new instance of a previously permmited program. Dirms runs from the CLI
unless you want to run it under a batch file. Buzzsaw runs in the
background from the systray and will defrag things as needed. Very
light in resource usage and does *not* run as a service at all.

I've been using it for about four months, now. Using Dirms, I performed a
complete defrag then have let Buzzsaw have free reign. My file
fragmentation is at about 6% right now, after four months, and I suspect
that when I put away the e-mail and newsreader software and give buzzsaw a
minute to catchup, that already small number will shrivel away. I'm quite
pleased with buzzsaw, personally. Smoothe.

I guess you are talking about the "move" option.

The "/?" command line help is pretty fuzzy, as is the online help.

Yes. The "move" option moves the files towards the 'front part of the
disk' for easier/quicker access.

Yeah, it is limited, but there's enough there to get you going. Or you
can also take a peek at the forum listings at their website for some
tips and hints.

CPU usage. I don't even know they're there.

YW. I've been pretty satisfied with them. Added to my short list of
'must haves'. If you throw in PageDefrag from Sysinternals, you've
pretty much taken care of your defragmenting needs.

Contig is a single-file defragmenter that attempts to make files
contiguous on disk. Its perfect for quickly optimizing files that
are continuously becoming fragmented, or that you want to
ensure are in as few fragments as possible.

Would you run this program after BuzzSaw and Dirms or just Page Defrag?
I get the impression that this defragger takes especially care of the
Registry...
