Browser opening second Browser window

Hello,

I'm having a small problem with my browser. When I connect
up to the internet (dial-up) IE opens yahoo.co.uk as my
homepage - which is fine. However it then proceeds to open
a second window, which opens on google.ie (which I havent
asked it to do).

On occasion it will seek to open an internet connection
when I open MS Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and other
non-MS programs. And on very rare occasions the keyboard
will cease to function properly and display symbols such
as íòúÿăš etc. instead of the correct keyboard letter.

I've checked whats running on my system using Norton
System Works and have Norton Anti-virus/Web protection
software. I've even downloaded and run Spybot Search and
Destroy... all to no avail.

Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions that might help
resolve my problem.
