Bluetooth port won't accept incoming connections on COM port

Hi,

Environment:
Windows XP Professional SP2
Dell Inspiron 9400
Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 03/08/2004
Driver Version: 5.1.2600.2180
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Driver details as above

Problem:
Although I can create an incoming port, no devices can connect to me.
It's as if there were a premissions issue on the bluetooth device. Is
there somehting I should be checking. I can connect to other devices
without a problem. It's only incoming connections that fail. I don't
even get the popup telling me that a device is trying to ocnnecto to my
comptuer.

If I use the Tohiba stack, which comes with the adaptor, I can create an
incoming/server port and connect to it without a problem. I would
rather use the MS stack though, as the Toshiba stack creates a whole
bunch of different services for functions I have no desire to use.

So, is there some security/firewall setting I'm not aware of that
governs my incoming bluetooth connections?

Any help would be appreciated.

OK, So after a week of trying to get this to work, I post ot to usenet
and withing 20 min's discover the solution. Go figure.

Although I had the port established in the bluetooth config, I had to
manualy create the incoming connection in network settings. A bit odd,
but none the less, it works.

Select the =3FCommunication Port=3F that your Bluetooth is connected to and

you
selected the right com port (or just check under the 'Client
Applications'
tab in Advanced Configuration when you right click your bt icon in your
taskbar).

9) Select the users who are allowed to connect. (ie Administrator, and
or
the name you are logged in with) I added Guest too.

10) Click Finish.
