The driver is for W2K3 no vista driver available. I update from windows

and connect to the internet as long as I don't reboot.

JP Du Plessis,

I don't have a 100% sure fire answer, but try the following, if you haven't
already: In Device Manager, remove the device totally, and then unplug it
from the PC. Now reboot and then shutdown again without connecting the modem
to the PC. Before starting up (rebooting), connect the device to the PC and
boot. The idea is to get Vista to recognize and install the device
correctly. If Vista cannot find drivers after you do this, then reinstall
the drivers you say work with Vista. Let us know what happens. We like to
know, too.

I have tried what you sugessted. Still the same problem. If the modem is
plug in before boot Vista crash with blue screen. If modem is unplug
then Vista boot fine. After boot you can plug the modem in and vista
install the driver. You can then connect to the internet fine till the
next reboot. I have tried three different usb ports and two different
modems (Duxbury and microcom).

Another problem I find is when I right click on the taskbar and click
on Task manager a error message pop up the task manager has stop
working. Error detail below. After I click close program a window pop up
saying that Data Execution Prevention has close Task manager.

Jp Du Plessis,

OK, lets try something else. Try checking a Vista report for specific
errors and corrective measures to take: Click on Start (icon) and select All
Programs. Then, select
Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions. When that report opens, select
from among the Tasks on the left margin and elsewhere. Here you may see
specific information about what caused your problem. If you get some insight
from the report, take the corrective action suggested in the report. Just
something to try, since Vista logs errors and hopefully it will in this case.

I did check the Problem Report and solutions and send it to
Microsoft. The only solution is to install the
usbsmart modem on the update site.Witch i did with the same problem. The
task manager problem
have no solution.I have all ready activate Vista so if I reinstall the
licence will show as in use.

JP Du Plessis,

I can think of only one more thing to try. Have you contacted the
manufacturer or vendor of the microcom USB device? You'd think they would
have a solution for using their hardware with Vista. Anyone else?
