I recently was given a friend's Pocket PC (HP rz1710) along with the cables/charger but no manual or installation CD. I proceeded to download ActiveSync from Microsoft. When I install the software though, it gets past the "copying files" part and then crashes to a blue screen with the following:

***STOP: 00x0000008E

***system32: lzx32.sys Address AD8A160A, base at AD89F000, Datestamp 45b0938d

I have tried to install the software many many times, however no amount of restarting seems to have any effect on the problem, it still crashes.

I have Windows XP Home SP2

Any ideas as to what the problem is anyone?

Perhaps it was a bit of a dodgy installer package.

Could try and re-download the file perhaps from another source and try installing it again.

Thats what I would try first anyway ;)
