best way to backup 3 GB My Music???

L

Lisa Hetherington

HI all,

I'm running XP home, no CD so no backup program.
I currently do regular backups of Docs & Settings afor all 4 users (plus
other stuff) ....uses 6 CD-RW's.
I'm wondering what to do with My Music, though. It's about 3 GB...too big
for a CD, awkward to split up onto multiple CD's???
Are there any free online backup sites??? Or am I dreaming?
I don't have $$$ for external drive to save to.........

Suggestions?
Thanks!!

....Lisa

Given your situation, I'd strongly recommend a DVD burner, you can put 4GB
on a single disk.

I apologize, I missed the last line of your post.

That said, I still think the best suggestion would be a DVD burner. The
internal drives are less expensive than the external drives and you can
purchase one that supports both CD-RWs and DVD burning. While online
storage is an option, you won't find one that would offer as much storage as
you require for free.

The least expensive option and the one that will offer you the most bang for
the buck, especially considering how much in cost DVD disks have come down
in price would be a DVD burner.

For the amount of storage you need, you would likely be paying a monthly fee
and within a year's time or so, you would pretty much have paid for a DVD
burner.

Why not try purchasing a cheap 20 or 40 Hard Drive to backup your documents
and music. You can use the second hard drive as a backup drive for all your
needed programs, exe's, and items that you wish to keep. That's what I did
since I reformat at least every 2 months or so. I'm running off an 80 gig
hard drive with a 40 gig backup. They're not that expensive and simple to
install if you have room for a second hard drive.

I think I'd have to agree with you there Michael, I've just had one fitted
today. My CD rewritable combo drive was playing up so my local friendly
computer shop ordered me another one, too much hassle going through
warranty, and he came to fit it today but also brought a DVD rewritable
combo drive and asked if I wanted that instead of the CD one. The price on
the box was £125 the CD one I think was £76 so I said yes I'll get a good
discount anyway <g> and the software that came with it I can burn any
number of discs and formats.
