BenQ T905 LCD Monitor: Colors "washed out"

Hi all,

I recently got a BenQ T905 monitor. From the moment I turned it on, I
realized the color red was "washed out." It appeared closer to orange. I
thought I would be OK with it, but when I dragged Outlook from the new T905
monitor to my older HP 17" LCD monitor, I realized that light colors,
especially beige, like MS Outlook uses, are "washed out," meaning, you can
barely see them. I now have had the monitor for too long to return it, but I
can live with it.

I put a review saying this on the review area under the monitor information
on Buy.com, but it was not posted. Hopefully this will help somebody else
who may be looking for a monitor. If I could do it over, I'd have spent more
money and got a better monitor. Funny, when I first got the monitor I sent
Buy.com a review saying the monitor was great, and they posted that one.
This isn't a "terrible" monitor, it just doesn't show red very well.

Or am I doing something wrong? I used the i-key color adjusting software
that came with the monitor, but that did not help. Neither did adjusting the
contrast, or brightness.

Hope this helps,

Ned

Its probably a TN panel. The roots of these panels come from the old passive
notebook screens. These screens don't show much ghosting, but contrast
ratio, viewing angle and color reproduction suffer because of the type of
panel used. Futher more, they only really display 262K colors. The specs may
say 16.2 million, but that is only through dithering.

Well, I did some adjustments with the video card software, (instead of using
the monitor software), and was able to get the beige to show up much better,
so I'm a little happier. It still seems the BenQ T905 has a problem showing
deep red, it's still a little orange. I'll keep working on it. If you found
this by Googling for reviews on this T905 monitor, I still say keep saving
up for a better quality monitor, maybe one that's been reviewed by a
legitimate PC Magazine. At least then you'll have an idea what to expect. I
wish I had. The entreprenuer Marshall Field once said: "The quality is
remembered long after the price is forgotten." I believe that.
