Forgot to say that it took three (3) check for updates to get it all and the
last one
was an Opional Update but the program doesn't tell you what it is . If you
find out
let me know. Ron

I had used the free Avast AV for about three years with no problems,
then suddenly I started having problems with it auto-updating. Repeated
emails to Avast tech support, and several comments/replies on their forums
produced no fix. So I tried AVG Free AV about four months ago. I have been
pleasantly surprised. The program runs quietly and smoothly, and uses FAR
less system resources than Avast. Unlike Avast Free, AVG Free can be
configured to run scheduled scans too.

Yesterday was definately UPDATE day for AVG. Like you, it took 3 times to
finish, and then I got another update last night. Have no idea what it was
either. Oh well, maybe Robin knows. Have a good day...:)

A few months ago i removed Avast Home free after using it for about a year
right along with AVG Free. They worked well together, i had no problems and
you know its said only one AV at a time. Avast's RTP has three settings
(low medium and high) so to speak and me using low so maybe thats why
there seemed to be no conflict. I got rid of Avast because of boot times
taking
to long .

a bunch of users where having problems with certain things in Vista so AVG
decided to make some changes and made a version change too- that is why it
was so big.
Also they added detection of new variant of Worm/Autoit, new variants of
trojans Puper, PSW.VB and updated module componients
