Automatic updates keeps turning itself off...

Hi All,

I have a machine on a domain that keeps having Automatic Updates turned
off.

If I run Windows Update, Explorer opens and then I get the following
message:

"The site cannot continue because one or more of these Windows services
is not running:
Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install
high-priority updates for your computer)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download
more quickly and without problems if the download process is
interrupted)
Event Log (keeps a record of updating activities to help with
troubleshooting, if needed)"

The instructions then go on to indicate how to fix the problem by
opening services.msc and turning on the above services. I follow the
instructions to the letter, but the problem rears its ugly head about
once a week. I have admin privs on this machine.

Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong, or how to fix it?

thanks!

7 days is about a week and the default save level of the Event Viewer.

Might edit the Event Viewer properties to overwrite events as need'd

I admit it's a shot in the dark.

thanks pw!

I found another post that suggested running the following from a
command prompt: "regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll"

I'll report back more in a week to see if it actually resolved the
problem.
