Autoconfiguration Ip Address?

my pc seems to have lost the abillity to communicate with
my linksys router. in the network connections tab the
config indicates that the pc should be pullling the ip
from the router (works for other pcs) instead there is an
ip address (autoconfiguration..) of 169.254.47.171
no matter what i do i cannot get the pc to "see" my
router. to add insult to injury, now my "taskbar"
and "shortcut" bar are inaccessible (mouse turns into
hourglass when placed over these areas).

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
thanks
