Auto suggest names in TO: field not working

Brandon

I have u/g'd Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002 and I have the
Outlook.NK2 file from 2000, but can't get the autofill
nicknames feature to work by placing the NK2 file in the
same directory where it came from on the old PC. Also
note that I changed PC's and went from Win2000 to WinXP.
Thanks...

Signal received. Then why was there an Outlook.NK2 file
on the PC in the profile? And if you go to Tools,
Options, Email options, Advanced Email options from
Outlook and check the 2 boxes "Suggest names while
completing...." and "Automatic name checking", where does
it pull it's KNOWN names from? What file in Outlook 2000
if it didn't use an NK2 file? And if it didn't, why was
there one there? I'm not making this stuff up.... Thanks!!

Outlook 2000 used a *.nick file.
You might see an NK2 file if you did an in place upgrade of Outlook 2000.
Moreover, an in place upgrade of Outlook 2000 in IMO mode is one common
reason autocompletion will not work.
Take a look at this MS KB article, it may help:
