audio plays but video doesn't for .avi shot with digital camera

i shot a few video clips in .avi format with my digital
camera and it plays on my windows media player at home (on
windows xp) but not on the same media player on a
different computer (running windows 98). both players are
windows media player v. 9.

any ideas? i didn't have to download anything special to
play the file at home.
