Attaching emails to a contact...

Is there a way to "attach" and email to a contact? I've tried
opening the email options and adding the proper contact and
categories, but is there a way to make the email stay permanently
attached to, say, the Activities tab in the contact record? And
move the email out of the In-box?

TIA.

You can move it out of the Inbox as long as you move it to some folder that is included in one of the Activities groups, which you can modify on the properties for the Contacts folder.

AFAIK, "activities" is sort of an auto-search function for various folders
(as you set up "activities tab") for the items you specify in the
"activities" drop down box. It does not store anything, only finds it
somewhere else. Therefore, I don't believe you can move items from a folder
like inbox into activities. If items are not showing up, open the original
item and make sure the contact name is underlined. If so, that item should
be linked to the contact in Outlook. If not, check spelling, etc. and try
"check-names" manually to see if Outlook will make the link for you
(alt-T-K).

This sounds logical to me, and is the way I was hoping that Outlook
would work--but it doesn't. Or I'm missing something. What I'm
doing is opening up the "Properties" on an email and adding the
Contact I want it associated with in the Properies list box. After
doing so, I was hoping that the email would then appear in the
"Activities" tab of the contact as an Email. Doesn't do that. I
have only been able to copy the email(s) and then paste them into the
notes field of the contact. They stay there until/unless I delete
the originals from the In-Box, which is not where I want them.

I read Sue's comments also and checked the Properties of the Contact
folder and see "Email" as one of the types of items, but no folder
associated with it. Should I creat and "Email" folder and then drag
any emails I want to keep associated with contacts to that folder
with the appropriate contact inserted?

I'm thinking I must be missing something as it can't be as difficult
as all that to link emails and such to a specific contact.

If you don't see any folders in the Email group, that would explain why you see no activities. There is no need to create any new folders. Just edit the Email activities group to add folders, and you should see related messages when you display that group.
