Hi all!

Just bought this great new mobo. Problem is I want to use my Creative
soundblaster live card but the problem is there are obviosly conflicts in
the IRQ assigments.

I got the conflicts with the Ethernet adapter (lockups in Internet Explorer)
Tryed using slot 5 and 3 (yes i did disable the onboard soundcard). The
manual does not discribe the issue and do not tell us what slot is shared
with the onboard sound card.

My old A7V266-E shared slot 3 with the onboard sound card.

The A7V266-E uses a PCI based sound chip, and that has an IRQ.
THe A7V880 uses an AC97 codec for a sound chip, and as far
as I know, there isn't need of an IRQ. At least I cannot see
an IRQ listed in other manuals I've looked at. Looking in the
AC97_r23 spec, one of the ACLink slots can be used for an
optional audio interrupt, so that isn't a conventional interrupt
source.

If you disable the Ethernet interface, then open Internet Explorer,
are there still lockups ? Perhaps there is something else wrong
with your system.

According to the manual, PCI slot 1 (next to AGP) or slot 3, look
like good slots for a sound card.

I would think, if "Plug and Play OS" is set to [No], the BIOS
should be assigning IRQ numbers, and the sound card should get
IRQ 5. Check and see if that is the case. (That is in the list
of "Standard Interrupt Assignments" in the manual.)

While there are a lot of complicated things you can do, for little
benefit, play around with it a bit more first, before messing
with stuff like the OS HAL and reserving interrupts and the like.
Since this stuff works for so many other people, there has to be
some other kind of problem.

Oh, on the download page, release BIOS 1004 has this release note
in it. Looks like you are going to have to flash the BIOS :)

"Fixed onboard Marvell LAN could not be used when plug a
audio sound PCI Card."

How is that for specifically addressing your problem ?

Thx for your support Paul. The bios update 1004 solved the problem ;-).
