Are system utilities any good for win xp?

I'm curious, how good if at all are system suite utils for windows xp such
as system suite 4 or 5.0 from vcom/ontrack and norton stuff? Like the disk
check programs and stuff. I know with mac os x you don't need them and
wonder if windows xp you could get much use from them if they help at all.
cus i used to try norton system works pro 2003 stuff in windows xp and it
would slow my pc down alot and cause problems. So I'm just wondering what's
the use and like if anyone out there notice any actual improovements and no
slow downs.

My pc is
Athlon XP 1700+ with 1gb ddr ram and ata 133 hard drive and bus speed along
with a leadtek GF3 64mb vid card.

You only need to additional programs:

1. System Mechanic (www.iolo.com)

2. Norton Internet Security (http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/)

Trust your experience, Windows XP has all the utilities you need. System
utilities like Norton are useful for making money for the developers.
