AoM Memory System Error

I've installed AoM and after running the intro video, the game shuts down
with a "Memory System Error" saying "Unable to allocate memory, size
1073741816"

I've added another 512Mb of memory (so now totals 1Gb RAM) and the Radeon
9200SE is reportedly running the most uptodate drivers, but the error
remains. I've tried to google for anymore info, but I can't find a
resolution. Any info or suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi Witsend,

Increase your Virtual Memory settings to resolve the issue.
The steps are listed in: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837869

Hi Jimmy S.

Many thanks for your response to my predicament, but sad to report this
didn't fix it. The error remains the same, with the program exiting just
after "Loading Sounds...", if that additional detail helps at all... ?

Very happy to try any thing else.

Thanks, Witsend.

Hi Witsend,

Try to lower your ingame settings for video and audio as
low as they can go. You should also check for the latest
sound drivers available and reinstall them on your system.

Hi Jimmy S.

Sorry not to have come back before now. Renewing the sound drivers started a
rather elongated exercise in locating & upgrading pretty much every driver...
the final one being the ATI driver for the 9200SE.

But the problem remains... :-(

The items loading listed at the bottom of the AoM intro screen now gets as
far as "Building Game Image..." before it fails. So, as it doesn't load, I
can't lower any of the in-game settings.

Anymore suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Witsend.
