Amazon Echo has been available in the US since 2014, and it was announced today that the interactive speaker will be available in Europe this autumn. Amazon is also launching a mini version of the device, called the Echo Dot. If you haven't heard of Echo before, here's an explanation from Amazon:

Amazon Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather and more. Prime members can also ask Alexa to order eligible products they've ordered before and many Prime products (coming soon). All you have to do is ask.

Echo has seven microphones and beam-forming technology so it can hear you from across the room—even in noisy environments or while playing music. Echo is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with 360° immersive sound. When you want to use Echo, just say the wake word "Alexa" and Echo responds.

The Echo will be released on 28 September 2016 and will be priced at £149.99 in the UK, although Prime customers are able to pre-order an Echo at £99.99 for the the next two days only. The Echo Dot will be £49.99 and will be released on 20 October 2016.

Hmmm, Think Google Home would be my choice. If I were to have one of these devices.
