All hyperlinks in Outlook { HYPERLINKS " link" } and do not work

Last week I was editing a hyperlink in an email and ever since every link in
my email I compose (not arriving) converts to the form { HYPERLINKS "thelink"
}. How now to return to the proper links of the past ? note: I write lots
of VBA's but doubt they were involved in this trouble.

THANK YOU!!!
I could not seem to get any search engines to take the "{" seriously.

it's merge fields. Alt+F9 to toggle.

I have the same problem but do not understand what you're talking about for
the fix. Thanks, Missy

The field codes do not show until the email is sent. I have looked and field
codes are NOT checked; when I hit Alt+F9, the codes do show. The problem
exists with my automatic signature as well as the body of emails. The email
looks fine when I send it but the field codes show after I send. HELP!

I send these email from my outlook 2003 exchange server account. Whoever I
send them to gets the HYPERLINKs showing. the only way I see the HYPERLINKs
is if I bcc: myself or send it to my hotmail account or get a reply from the
person I emailed.
