Windows Vista after reinsalation of vista drive letters changed

I had an origianl proble of low spacedrive C anlots of space on dive D so after doing a factory windows disk instalation on my dell inspiron 531 desk top I notice that I have a drive C and a drive E that both say local and my drive D has the red line low space, and my C drive has plenty of space so its like befor the instiation how ever I have E now and C I have tried to use the vista disk clean up , how ever very litle is cleaned up on either drive , so what happened. whats the fix ?
